How sad is it that women are lied to?
Made to believe that their only choice in life
is to marry and make babies and live in nice perfectly
formed straight marital bliss.

Is it any wonder that there are so many women in hetero
marriages when they are, in fact, gay?

Is it any wonder that I'm one of these women?
The fact that my straight male partner knows is a step
in the right direction.

But how did I get here? Is it fair to anyone involved?
I am a lesbian. And I am in a hetero marriage. I've been
with him for 8 years, and I love him very much. We have
an arrangement. We're communicating and we know where we
are.

But it isn't fair. It's not fair at all.

Well not "you" specifically.

I don't know what I want for Xmas.
Why should I want anything, y'know?

I want to not have to worry about health or money
or anything like that.
I want to have a space to call my own.

Not really things you can give someone easily.

Today is one of those "I Want" days.
These days are irritating at best and angering at worst. Willow asks for something about
every 5-10 minutes...and then keeps asking. She bitches at the cats, she bitches at me.
All I want to do is go outside and drive - just listen to some good tunes and relax. She's
up my butt today.

I love her, of course. But days like this wear me out.

Unschooling at our house is in full bloom - complete with the faint smells of
permanent markers. Willow is learning to read and today we were working on short
'A' sounds and 'AT' words (cat, mat, sat, hat.) We read a story about Zac the Rat
and I thought it would be a good idea to work on some flash cards.

So she and I were sitting at the table looking at flash cards of sight words.
Remember on "The Electric Company" when they'd do the "Duh. Og. DOG!"? Well, we
started doing that and she was doing rather well (cat, bat, hat) and I get the 'R'
card and the 'AT' card and say "Rrrr. AT." *look at child expectantly* . . .

She smiles and pipes up "DOG!!"

*head. desk.*

Just when you think you're on to something, just when you think your child is
grasping the concept that letters make sounds and the sounds together make words . . .

Someone pulls the rug out from under you. Some seemingly-sweet, blue-eyed beauty looks
at your "rat" and sees a "dog".

X-posted from one of my favorite spots. Don't worry, the words are mine.

Do people in TX just not get it?
I'm not talking about the people who voted Dem...and I don't mean that people should think like I do.

If the people that voted for Kinky Friedman (the racist, War backer)
or the people that voted for Strayhorn (one tough Republican-light grandma)
had voted for Chris Bell...

Texas would have a democratic governor. But instead...we're stuck with Perry.

When are people going to get tired of "Business as Usual?"
When are people going to see that in some places (like Texas)...Third parties
will not have a chance until we pave the way to Austin with Democrats.

Third parties are a JOKE here. And while I agree with some alt-parties...
I'm not going to shoot myself in the foot for voting for them against
a democrat who can do the job a hell of a lot better than the asshole that
is in office now.

I can't believe with as many people that hate Perry, that he still won.

Ok...rant over. I know...it's Texas. I know...people vote their conscience
and I think that is admirable. And Yes, I know that the elections are over
and there isn't anything we can do to change it now.

But...I'm glad as hell I only have to live here for two more years under
the tutelage of Sir Richard the Douche.

And for all those District 19ers who voted for Randy "Can't-Be-Bothered"
Neugebauer...where the hell do your loyalties lie? Do you like that cotton
is our number one crop here? Don't you want to have someone in
congress that will back the cotton farmers and not take funding away from
them? Don't you want someone in congress who actually cares about all
his constituents and not just the ones who are blonde haired, blue eyed Republicans with loads of disposable cash?

Fuck. You. Right in the ear.

Ok...really...I'm better now. I'll never mention it (out loud) again.

I suppose I'll start the journal off with something that isn't negative and ranty.
At least...I'm going to try to keep it from getting that way.

I had an LJ WAY back in the day. And recently unsubscribed. I say recent, it's really been several months. But after the election a few days ago, I realized I wanted a space to rant about things political. So, I'm back.

It's cheaper than therapy, and you don't have to call Crime Scene Clean-up afterwards.

So...enjoy.
